from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The signal GW170608 measured by the LIGO detectors

GW170608 was a gravitational wave signal created by two colliding black holes . The collision turned two black holes with about 12  solar masses and 7 solar masses into a larger black hole with 18 solar masses, whereby one solar mass was converted into energy in the form of gravitational waves. The signal was registered by two LIGO detectors on June 8, 2017 at 02: 01: 16.49 UTC .
