The private airline Gabon Express was founded in Gabon , Africa in 1988 . It has had several Hawker-Siddeley HS 748s since its inception and Gabon Express was the only airline to own a Caravelle at the beginning of the 21st century , which attracted fans of this type of aircraft from all over the world.
On June 8, 2004, one of her HS-748s crashed off the coast of Libreville . As a result, the airline disappeared from the market after an investigation into the accident found lack of maintenance and evidence of licenses obtained through corruption .
