Gabor Maté

Gabor Maté (* 1944 in Budapest ) is a Canadian doctor born in Hungary . His Jewish family narrowly escaped deportation under the German occupation and left Hungary in 1956.

Maté has specialized in the study of addiction therapy and the treatment of addicts, he is also known and respected nationwide for his theses on attention deficit / hyperactivity disorder and the connection between stress , addiction, the immune system , chronic diseases and (early) psychotrauma. He is the author of four books on attention deficit disorder, stress, and addiction. He is a regular columnist for the Vancouver Sun and The Globe and Mail .
