Gabriel Hornstein

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Gabriel Hornstein († after 1639), also written Gabriel Hornstain, was a German draftsman .

Little is known of Gabriel Hornstein. Only two inked pen drawings, depictions of the church of the Admont Benedictine Abbey , which was destroyed in 1865, can be assigned to him without any doubt. These drawings are in the Berlin Kupferstichkabinett . One shows the twelve-year-old Jesus in the temple, is signed and dated 1639. The pen drawing of a representation of Saint Benedict is glued to the back. The other drawing shows the Adoration of the Magi and is signed GH . St. Jerome is depicted on the back , but he was not made by Gabriel Hornstein.
