Gagik I.

Gagik I. (* 904 ; † 937 ) was an Armenian prince and later King of Vaspurakan from the Artsruni dynasty .

He established his capital in Akhtamar , an island in Lake Van . The palace chapel, the Church of the Holy Cross, has been preserved to this day.

The most important source of his rule is the unknown sequel to the chronicle of Thomas Artsruni from the 9th century.
