Gaius Iulius Antiochianus

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Gaius Iulius Antiochianus was a member of the Roman knighthood ( eques ) living in the 2nd century AD .

Antiochianus came from Samosata in Commagene . A military diploma shows that in 138 AD he was the commander of the Cohors I Cisipadensium , which was stationed in the province of Thracia at that time . The leadership of the cohort was probably his first military command ( militia prima ).

Because of his name, it is believed that he was related to Gaius Iulius Antiochus Epiphanes Philopappus .
