Gajraula is a city in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh .
The city is part of the Amroha district . Gajraula has the status of a small town ( Nagar Panchayat ). The city is divided into 18 wards . On the cut-off date of the 2011 census it had 55,048 inhabitants, of which 28,896 were men and 26,152 women. Hindus make up the majority of the city's population with a share of over 77%. The literacy rate in 2011 was 74.36%.
It is a major industrial city in Uttar Pradesh with some well-known multinational companies such as Jubliant Life Sciences , Israeli Teva, and important higher education institutions such as Sri Venkateshwara University and other major engineering schools.
