Gallows
Galgenleiten is a field name.
The term Leite , more correctly guiding , describes the side of a hill or mountain, mountainside, slope. Leite is a reverse high German of the term Leiten , which was formed when the maps were first recorded in Bavaria at the beginning of the 19th century. The gallows , which z. B. was on a Galgenleiten, was part of a place of execution in the Middle Ages and early modern times and meant the privilege of high jurisdiction for the place in question. As a rule, the places of execution were outside the village.
