The Gallusturm of Bad Säckingen was in 1343 as a breakwater created after a flood had ravaged the former island city. At that time, the Rhine branched out into a main and a northern tributary, thus enclosing the city center. Since 1974 it has been the guild pub of the Bad Säckinger fools guild .
