Gameswelt (originally gamesweb.com ) is a German-language online magazine on the subject of computer games with branches in Germany , Switzerland and Austria .

description

The magazine was launched in 1999 as gamesweb.com magazine by "gamesweb.com AG" based in Bern . With new owners and the relocation of the editorial team to Munich, the Gameswelt brand was born. In summer 2008 the company expanded to Austria and Switzerland. Subsidiaries were founded with Gameswelt Österreich GmbH and Gameswelt Schweiz GmbH, and the domains gameswelt.at and gameswelt.ch started as independent portals, which, however, largely rely on the content of the parent website.

Gameswelt deals with games for PC and the current generation of consoles. The editors-in-chief of the roughly twelve-man editorial team are Michael Zeis and Tim Lenzen. The reporting includes:

  • Gaming tests
  • Preview reports
  • daily news
  • Video reports
  • Reporting on national events in Germany, Switzerland and Austria

Gameswelt has also been operating a channel on the Twitch streaming platform (twitch.tv/gameswelt) since November 10, 2014 . The live broadcast is broadcast irregularly. The program can include the following: News, LiveGaming or discussions about current entertainment topics. The show is moderated by Felix Rick, Dennis Kröner or Christian Kurowski.

Gameswelt is IVW , Agof and WEMF certified. Gameswelt was one of the five members of the meanwhile inactive VdOSM - Association of German-Language Online Games Magazines . The purpose of the association was, among other things, to sponsor the OMeGA - Online Media Games Award presented at the Games Convention 2007 .

Range

In the fourth quarter of 2008, Gameswelt reached 420,000 readers a month, according to Agof. According to IVW, the site generates less than ten million page views per month. In Switzerland, Gameswelt is the only online games magazine listed in the Net-Metrix Audit of the WEMF and in December 2007 achieved a reach of 36,000 unique clients and over 400,000 page views in Switzerland alone.

Media partner

  • T-Online - Gameswelt provides complete solutions and tips on games for the online magazine.
  • Tomorrow (German magazine) - current reports from the games industry, mainly test reports and previews, are provided by Gameswelt (until 2009).
