Gamla Rådhuset
Gamla Rådhuset (German: Old Town Hall ) is the historic town hall of the Swedish city of Ystad .
The town hall is located on Stortorget in the center of Ystad's old town. The Sankt-Marien-Kirche is located immediately to the west of the town hall .
The building dates back to the 15th century. The town hall cellar, which houses a restaurant, dates from this time. The current design of the house took place in 1840. Since 1968 the town hall has been under monument protection as Byggnadsminne .
In front of the town hall is the fountain sculpture ' Bäckahästen ' (German for 'Das Bachpferd'), which was created by the artist Oskar Antonsson in 1928. According to a legend, this 'water being' tried to pick up riders and then drown them in the water (stream).
