Gangnihessou
Gangnihessou was the first of the traditional "Twelve Kings of Dahomey " (Benin).
Gangnihessou is believed to have ruled until 1620. Its symbols were a male Gangnihessou bird (a rebus for its name), a drum, and throwing skewers. It is not finally clear whether he historically really ruled as king or was just an influential leader. His successor and younger brother Dakodonu, on the other hand, can be clearly identified as king.
