All of Germany laughs! is an anthology of German jokes by Chris Howland , Michael Lentz and Dieter Thoma , which has been published several times since 1999 and which has also been published as an audio book with the authors as speakers . The book was a bestseller , and in 1999 it made it to number 1 on the best-selling fiction list of the weekly newspaper Die Zeit .

Book or audio book tell "50 German years in the mirror of their jokes" and expose the narrow-mindedness of the German post-war humor, which nevertheless made you laugh.

"Contemporary history for the diaphragm" was what the Kölnische Rundschau called the annotated compilation, which, among other things, investigated the questions of which jokes were passed on and why, which reactions to current trends can be discerned and what differences existed between the humor in the GDR and that in the FRG.
