Garcia II (Gascony)
García II. Sánchez ( Basque : Gartzia Antso , French : Garcie-Sanche le Tors or le Courbé , Latin : Gasrsia Sancius Corvum , * probably in the middle of the 9th century; † around 930), called the Krumme , was a Duke of Gascony from 893 until his death.
Life and origin
The Genealogica Comitum Guasconiæ after García was the crooked son of the Duke Sancho III. Mitarra . He himself called Duke Arnold his cousin. García founded the ducal house of Gascony, which ruled until 1032.
progeny
García had at least five children:
- Sancho IV. Garcez , who inherited most of Gascon and the title of duke
- Wilhelm García , who inherited the county of Fézensac , from which a generation later the county of Armagnac broke away
- Arnaud García who inherited the county of Astarac
- Andregoto ∞ with a Raimund, their son was Count Wilhelm the Good of Bordeaux
- Gersinde ∞ with Count Raimund III. Pons of Toulouse
- Acibella ∞ with Count Galindo II. Aznárez of Aragón
