Galindo II Aznarez

Galindo II. Aznárez († between 922 and 924) was a Count of Aragon in the late 9th and early 10th centuries from the House of Galíndez . He was the son of Count Aznar II Galíndez and Oneca, daughter of King García Íñiguez of Pamplona .

With the support of his brother-in-law, King Fortún Garcés , Galindo founded the Abbey of San Julián de Labasal in 893. He also founded the Abbey of San Martín de Cercito near Acumuer in 920 and built the castle of Atarés at an unknown time . In 922, King Sancho I of Navarre made a donation to the Abbey of San Pedro de Siresa, mentioning the incumbent Count Galindo. Galindo II died during the reign of King Ordoño II of León (910–924). He had married his heir to King García I of Navarre , which initiated the inheritance of the House of Jiménez in Aragón and its union with Navarre.

Galindo II was married twice. His first wife was Acibella, daughter of Duke García II Sanches of Gascogne . He had three children with her:

  • Tota Galíndez; ∞ with Count Bernard I of Ribagorza
  • Redemptus Galíndez.
  • Mirón Galíndez.

His second wife was Sancha Garcés, daughter of a García Jiménez, who was probably identical with the king of the same name . Your children were:
