Andregoto Galíndez

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Andregoto Galíndez († after June 29, 971) was the last Countess of Aragón in the middle of the 10th century from the House of Galíndez . She was the heir to Count Galindo II Aznárez and his second wife Sancha Garcés. Through her marriage to King García I († 970), the county of Aragón fell to the Kingdom of Navarre .

Her father had died between the years 922 and 924, so that Andregoto was apparently the eldest surviving child who could succeed him in Aragón. On March 9, 933, King García I of Navarre, who had just come of age, confirmed several donations from previous Counts of Aragón to the Abbey of San Pedro de Siresa in a document. Andregoto himself does not appear by name in this document, but this document can refer to an already negotiated marriage with the king. When exactly the marriage was consummated is unclear; the future King Sancho II († 994) emerged from her as the only child . Before the year 943, Andregoto had to part with García I for reasons unknown, as his second wife Teresa was mentioned for the first time in that year. However, she still had a long life. She last appeared on June 29, 971, when she and her son and his wife Urraca von León made a donation to the Abbey of San Pedro de Siresa.
