Garnett Silk ( April 2, 1966 - December 10, 1994 ) was a Jamaican reggae musician.
Life
Garnett Silk was born Garnet Damion Smith in Greenvale, Manchester, Jamaica. He was known for his emotional, strong, silky voice. He was one of the most expectant talents during the 1980s. He is still known today, especially in Jamaica, as the new Bob Marley. He died with his mother in 1994 when their house burned down after a gas explosion.
music
His debut album was "It's Growing", his first hit "Hello Mama Africa". He worked with Buju Banton and King Tubby .
Perhaps his greatest achievement was at a time when slackness and pure party dancehall were prevalent, was successful with conscious lyrics and after his death many singers took up this style.
