Thread beads

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The large yarn bead was a clinker-made , approx. 8 m long fishing vessel built on Kiel that was used on the Frischen Haff in the former German province of East Prussia until 1945 . The boat had a heart-shaped downwardly tapering cross-section and a protruding stem . The characteristic of the boat was its rigging or sails: the large thread bead had a mast with a large rectangular square sail . The crew usually consisted of two men. The fishing was done with two boats in a team with the large twine ( net ) for eel and other fish species in the lagoon.
