Garrel Mill

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Garrel Mill was a mill in the Scottish town of Kilsyth in North Lanarkshire . The building is located on the northeast edge of the city on Tak-Ma-Doon Road . In 1979 Garrel Mill was included in the Scottish List of Monuments in Category B. The adjacent Garrel Mill House residential building across the street is also listed. Today the Garrel Mill is used as a residential building.

description

The exact date of construction of the mill is not recorded. However, since the late 17th century is specified as the construction period for the Garrel Mill House, its completion could also fall during this period. The Garrel Mill consists of two elongated building units, which are connected to each other in a closed construction . In contrast to the Garrel Mill House opposite, the elongated Garrel Mill does not run along the street, but is built across it, i.e. with gable roofs on the street side . The building, made of cut stone, has a gate for agricultural vehicles.
