Garrns Bunte

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Garrns Bunte is a red-colored variety of sweet cherries belonging to the heart cherries . She is the cherry of the year 2013.

origin

Probably originated before 1930 on one of the orchards in the Altes Land , where it was very common as a regional variety . The variety was thought to have been lost for a time, but has since been found in Hagen am Teutoburg Forest and is now available again in tree nurseries.

fruit

The fruit is medium to large, broadly heart-shaped, slightly rounded at the bottom. The skin is yellow, dotted or mottled red, almost completely red when fully ripe. The firm flesh is yellowish and juicy, a bit tart when ripening begins, but fully ripe but very aromatic. In cooler locations it is more aromatic than in warm regions. It is relatively burst resistant. The stone is medium-sized, asymmetrically thick with a strongly protruding belly bulge. The stem is medium-long and medium-thick, often reddish, with a relatively large stem attachment. It ripens in the 2nd to 3rd week of cherry and can be harvested over a longer period of time.

tree

The tree is very healthy and grows strongly with horizontal to hanging, weeping side branches. The crown is broadly spherical and densely branched. The tree is self-sterile and needs a fertilization partner. It blooms early to mid-early, before the leaves shoot. The tree is a robust mass carrier.
