Perkeo Guest House

The Gasthaus Perkeo is a listed building in Heidelberg .

The name is reminiscent of Perkeo , a well-known figure in Heidelberg history. The building was originally built in 1701 as the Zum Karpfen inn. In 1889 a major renovation was carried out by Jakob Henkenhaf and Friedrich Ebert , in which the side wing was raised and a hall was added in the inner courtyard.

The three-story house with a hipped roof is located in the western half of Hauptstrasse , the most important street in Heidelberg's old town , on the corner of Karpfengasse. The baroque facade facing the main street has ten window axes with ear windows on the two upper floors. There is a large entrance gate on the right. The large windows next to it with knight heads as keystones were added later. The facade painting and the Perkeo statue, which imitates the figure at the Great Barrel in Heidelberg Castle , date from the 20th century. Baroque stucco throats have been preserved inside.
