Gasthaus zur Rose (Böckingen)
The Gasthaus zur Rose was a half-timbered house from 1812 with adjoining stables and barns at Seestraße 28 in today's Heilbronn district of Böckingen , which was used as a restaurant with a garden restaurant. Until its destruction in the Second World War, the Gasthaus Rose, No. 28, was considered: “ one of the most beautiful half-timbered houses in Böckingen ”.
history
The inns with a name of Christian origin, such as " Sonne " or " Rose " , belonged to the Schildwirtschaften in Böckingen, which dates back to the Middle Ages . While “ sun ” was considered a symbol of Jesus, “ rose ” was considered a symbol of Mary. Seestrasse was once named after the inn and was called Rosengasse .
In 1812 the guest house was built by the Feyerabend family as " one of the once few and spacious half-timbered houses in Böckingen " and opened as the Gasthaus zur Rose. Later the rose was run by the innkeepers Keller, Fuchslocher, Weeber and Salat.
description
The half-timbered house was built in Franconian wood construction, with the entrance to the house over a tier on the eastern side of the house. There was a skylight above the two-winged front door. The high half-timbered building had a mansard roof that was hipped towards the gable side. On the street side, next to the old, wrought-iron one from the time it was built in 1812, there was also another newer pub sign that was considered "modern" when the photo was taken in the 1930s.
