The Neustadt (Dosse) gas works is a former gas production facility and today a technical monument in the Brandenburg town of Neustadt .

In the plant built in 1904, gas was produced from hard coal, which was then used for street lighting and heating, among other things. The plant, which was only slightly damaged in the Second World War, resumed operations in 1947 and was expanded during the GDR era. The four existing retort furnaces were supplemented by two more in 1960–62, and the gas tank was expanded to 550 m³. In 1977 an automatic calorimeter was installed to determine the calorific value. With the connection of a newly built gas pressure regulator station to the long-distance gas network of the GDR, the gas works became dispensable and decommissioned in 1980.

The plant has been a recognized technical monument since 1978, and a support association was established to preserve it. In addition to a similar example in Greece, the industrial monument is one of the only completely preserved gas works of this type in Europe. The museum, which is located in the building today and opened in September 2000, shows systems that illustrate the technical processes involved in the production, distribution and use of the gas. You can visit ovens with six horizontal retorts , tar separators, sulfur cleaners, telescopic gas containers and various exhibits, such as gas meters and protective systems through to gas-powered appliances such as cookers, refrigerators and a heated bathtub.
