Gatineau Satellite Station

The Gatineau Satellite Station is a Canadian satellite station in Cantley near Gatineau in the province of Québec . Like the Prince Albert Radar Laboratory , it was originally a military radar station operated by the Canadian Defense Research Telecommunications Establishment (DRTE), a division of the Canadian Defense Research Board. With the two satellite / radar stations it is possible to monitor the entire airspace over Canada, as well as parts of the USA and Alaska.

Tasks and equipment

The system still in operation today is mainly used as an earth station. It has a large operating building and a satellite antenna with a diameter of 13 meters, which replaced two old antennas, each 10 meters in diameter, in June 2014.
