Gauss professorship
The Gauß Professorship is a guest professorship at the University of Göttingen, sponsored by the Academy of Sciences in Göttingen and created on the 100th anniversary of Carl Friedrich Gauß's death in 1955. The professorship is linked to a stay of up to six months financed by the Academy.
The professorship is awarded by the Gauß Commission to outstanding scientists from the fields of astronomy, geophysics, mathematics and physics, the main areas of work of the namesake.
