Memorial chapel

The Mogersdorf memorial is located in the market town of Mogersdorf in memory of the battle of Mogersdorf .

Memorial chapel on the Schlösslberg

On the Schlößlberg there was a former Meierhof with the St. Mörtel Chapel of the St. Gotthard Abbey in St. Gotthard . In 1945 the neo-Gothic chapel built in 1897 was partially destroyed. With the inclusion of this chapel, the memorial was built between 1963 and 1964 for the 300-year anniversary of the battle of Mogersdorf after an invited competition based on the plans of the architect Ottokar Uhl .

The memorial is opened with a memorial stone. In German, Latin, French and Hungarian it is communicated: The brave heroes to all who fell here in 1664 by armed enemy hands, fighting for religion and fatherland . Behind it, two square-cut hedge lines lead up the Schlösslberg, directly to a 15 m high concrete cross that is visible from afar. The memorial chapel stands next to the cross. The altar is a copper work by the sculptor Rudolf Kedl and was erected in 1974. On the altar wall was an altar triptych (1934–1945) by Herbert Boeckl , which, however, was removed again for climatic reasons. The interior was significantly changed in 1974 and 1979 to the former design by architect Uhl.

Anna Chapel

At the western end of the village stands the Anna Chapel, a round building with a conical roof, built in 1670. The altarpiece St. Anna teaches Maria is from 1664. The chapel is a foundation of the widow of the Maltese knight General Trauttmannsdorff, who fell in the battle of Mogersdorf.

White cross

In the so-called Turkish cemetery on the road to Vienna there is a stone cross from 1840 with an inscription for the fallen from 1664.
