Gehry Residence

The Gehry Residence is architect Frank Gehry's private home in Santa Monica , California . The house is not a new design by Gehry, who is known for his deconstructivist work, but the extension of a bungalow built in 1920. In 1977 Gehry bought the house with his wife and began redesigning it. The structure of the house was retained and only the outside was clad. Gehry experimented with elements that he had already used for his other designs. The house was renovated in 1991 in order to be adapted to the changed needs of the family.

In 2012 the house received the Twenty-five Year Award .
