Ghost shift

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The word ghost shift denotes a standardized work time interval in which exclusively or almost exclusively machines work in a company or an organizational unit. This can even be done without human supervision. The work results are created as if by magic , which is why the term ghost shift is used for this process.

Ghost shifts are often used at night so human workers don't have to work at night . The night shift is then pre-processed or post-processed by human workers during the day. This "unmanned" production is used in particular for monotonous, recurring work processes such as wood grinding. The productivity of robots is significantly higher than that of human workers.
