The Gela Calcio SpA is an Italian football club from the Sicilian town of Gela . The club was formed in 2006 from Juveterranova Gela, since Juveterranova had disbanded. Gela Calcio is recognized by the FIGC as the successor club . In the 2010/11 season he played in the Lega Pro Prima Divisione , the third highest Italian league. The games will be played in the Stadio Vincenzo Presti , which has a capacity of around 4,200 spectators.

Juveterranova Gela

Since Juventina Gela and Terranova Gela both played in the C2 series, Juveterranova, which was created from a merger of Juventina and Terranova Gela, was also allowed to start in 1994 in the C2 series. In 2000 they finally managed to make a name for themselves, only in the lower leagues, but at least. Then in the 2004-2005 season, the team rose under coach Manuele Domenicali in the C1 series. In 2005 a scandal was prevented by the mayor Rosario Crocetta , because the club was owned by the mafia at the time and the president was deposed by him shortly before he was arrested for drug trafficking. Therefore, the club was dissolved at the end of the 2005/06 season. Even then, the association was sponsored by the city of Gela.

In August 2010, the club was classified in the Lega Pro Prima Divisione due to the forced relegations of various clubs .
