Scholars calendar

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A scholarly calendar is an annually published work that is structured similarly to the scholarly lexicon, but only lists living scholars . The boundaries between the lexicon of scholars and the literary calendar are fluid.

The best known is the annually published Kürschners Deutscher Schehrten-Kalender with information on more than 77,000 mostly habilitated scientists at German-speaking scientific institutions ( Verlag Walter de Gruyter & Co.). This first appeared in one volume in 1925 as Kürschner's German Scholars Calendar for the year 1925 (Ed. Gerhard Lüdtke) and is currently (2013) in its 25th edition (4 volumes).
