Loimaa municipality

The community Loima ( finn. Loimaan kunta , Swed. Loimaa kommun ), and 1977 Country Loimaan Kunta ( Loimaan Maalaiskunta , Loimaa landskommun ) is a former municipality in the southwest Finland landscape Finland Proper .

The Loimaa municipality comprised the area surrounding the city of Loimaa . In 1921, as a market town ( kauppala ), it gained municipal independence and has had town charter since 1969. The administrative center of the municipality of Loimaa was Hirvikoski, which also houses the Loimaa Church, built in 1831-37. In 1976 the municipality of Metsämaa was incorporated into the municipality of Loimaa. In 2005, the community in turn joined the city of Loimaa. The municipality of Loimaa had an area of ​​434.08 km² and recently around 6,000 inhabitants.
