Gemsch

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Gemsch or Gämsch is a card game played with Jass cards . The game is particularly popular with young people in Switzerland .

Gameplay

It is played with the "French" or "German-Swiss" cards. The game can be played with four or six players, but there are also variants with more than six players, with two players always forming a team and sitting opposite one another. Each player receives four cards and four more are laid out face up in the middle of the table. The remaining cards are put on a pile. Each team makes a secret sign with which a player can show his partner that he has "Gemsch". If the group is talking about the sign from the other group, the cards must be given up and the group (from the sign betrayed) wins.

Now the game can begin. The aim is the same card of all four colors (z. B. Heart , corner / Karo , spade / shovel and cross to get on the hand) ie for. B. 8, 8, 8 and 8. Each player may exchange cards from his own hand with the open cards in the middle as long as he wants. The principle is: "First come, first served." If no player wants to take any more cards from the middle, the four open cards are put away and replaced with four new ones from the stack.

Profit

If a player now has four of the same cards in his hand, he must indicate this to his teammate by means of the symbol, of course without the other side noticing. As soon as he notices it, the partner calls out "Gemsch!" To win the round. But if the opponents first notice that the other side has Gemsch, they can shout “Gegen-Gemsch!” Or “Bock!” And thus win the round. If both players of a team have a mixture at the same time, this counts as a double mixture, which is indicated with “double mixture!”.

rating

There are different ways of counting the points:

  • The most common system is that one point is given for each “Gemsch!”, Two points for a double Gemsch and, if “Gemsch!”, “Against Gemsch!” / “Bock!” Is wrongly called, one point for the opposite side. If the sign of the opposite side is found out, there are another 2 points. Whoever has the most points at the end wins.
  • Another variant: For each Gemsch you get 11 points, for “Against Gemsch” 13 and when you have found out the mark of the opponent you get 17 points.

Modifications

There are also various variations of Gemsch, such as B. Foltergemsch .
