General Inter-ORB Protocol

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

General Inter-ORB Protocol (GIOP) describes an abstract protocol for communication between Object Request Brokers (ORBs) in the area of distributed computing .

GIOP is an abstract protocol defined in CORBA 2.0 for communication between ORBs. The GIOP is independent of the transport protocol used. The Internet Inter-ORB Protocol (IIOP) is a specialization of GIOP on TCP / IP as a transport protocol and must be supported by every CORBA implementation.

The security extension of GIOP is called SECIOP (SECure Inter-ORB Protocol).
