Field Marshal Lieutenant
Generalfeldmarschallleutnant was a military rank very similar to the field marshal lieutenant . It appeared at the same time as that of the General Field Marshal in the 17th century. The warlord used to add a "lieutenant" to a field marshal general, who had to support and represent the field marshal.
Notes and individual references
- ↑ Since the rank was created before the spelling reform and also abolished before it, one often finds the spelling Generalfeldmarschalleutnant or Generalfeldmarschall-Lieutenant instead of Generalfeldmarschall-Leutnant or Generalfeldmarschallleutnant in historical texts.
