Generation change

In organizational sociology, generational change is the intermittent change from organizational members of one generation to the next younger generation. Generational changes of this kind are observed in companies , parties and sports teams , for example .

There are different causes for this change. When the organization was founded, younger organizations often employed people of the same age of working age. If the organization does not grow or shrink significantly, positions are only to be filled again when this generation of founders leaves working life at about the same time. Another reason is that existing teams (or management teams) are more likely to include people of the same age than younger or older people.

Business administration deals with the difficulties of passing on leadership when there is a change of generations. In sociological research, for example, the transfer of knowledge in the case of generation changes is in the foreground.
