Genevieve Guimond
Genevieve Guimond (* in Montreal ) is a Canadian cellist.
Guimond studied at the Juilliard School . Her main teachers were Yuli Turovsky , Richard Aaron and Hans Jensen . She won the Grand Prix at the Montreal Classical Music Festival in 2000 , First Prize at the Canadian Music Competition in 2005, and First Prize at the National Music Festival in 2007 . In 2010 she won a two-year scholarship at the Aspen Music Festival .
In 2006 she played the soundtrack of Alex Franchi's film Troll Concerto Manuel de Fallas Suite Populaire Espagnol . In 2013 she brought Yo-Yo Ma to the Civic Orchestra of Chicago as a Citizen Musician Fellow . In the 2014–15 season she was principal cellist and artist in residence with the Montgomery Symphony Orchestra . Kent Nagano engaged her as a cellist with the Montreal Symphony Orchestra in 2017 .
