Richard Aaron (cellist)

Richard Aaron (* 1959) is an American cellist and music teacher.

Life

The student of Pierre Fournier and André Navarra was a member of the Elysian Piano Trio at Baldwin Wallace College for fourteen years and remained active as a chamber musician afterwards. He gave master classes in Spain, Germany, France, Korea, Japan, China and Australia as well as at important music schools in the USA, for example at the Conservatory of Rice University , the Oberlin Conservatory , the Eastman School of Music , the Mannes School of Music , the Hartt School and at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto. In 2003 he joined the board of the Aspen Music Festival .

Aaron has taught at the New England Conservatory and the Cleveland Institute of Music . He is Professor of Cello at the University of Michigan and has been at the Juilliard School since 2007 . His numerous students include Mauricio Lopez , Ross Gasworth , Margo Drakos , Anne Francis Bayless , Mark Yee , Kenneth Olsen , Martin Torch-Ishii , Jacob Braun , Daniel Lee , Denise Djokic , Julie Albers , Abigail McHugh-Grifa , Charlie Powers , Joshua Roman , Amir Eldan , Sæunn Þorsteinsdóttir , David Requiro , Serafim Smigelskiy , Joseph Kuipers , Isabel Gehweiler , Genevieve Guimond , Will Hayes and Pia Eva Greiner .
