Amir Eldan

Amir Eldan (* 1976 ) is an American cellist and music teacher of Israeli origin.

Life

Eldan studied at Cleveland College and the Juilliard School . His teachers were Peter Wiley , Richard Aaron and Joel Krosnick . At the age of twenty-two he became the youngest member of the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra as assistant principal cellist and performed with the MET Chamber Ensemble at Carnegie Hall at the invitation of James Levine .

As a soloist and recitalist , Eldan has participated in music festivals around the world, performed at the Marlboro Music Festival and toured with the Musicians from Marlboro . As a chamber musician he worked a. a. with Richard Goode , Lynn Harrell , Steven Isserlis , Kim Kashkashian , Midori and Joseph Silverstein together and toured with pianist Ofra Ytzhaki by Israel and the United States . He has won concert competitions from the Juilliard School , the Aspen Music Festival, and the Cleveland Institute of Music . Eldan taught at the Juilliard School as Joel Krosnick's assistant and became Professor of Cello at the Oberlin Conservatory in 2006 and a member of the Oberlin Trio . In 2019 he received a professorship at the University of Michigan .
