Richard Goode

Richard Goode (born June 1, 1943 in East Bronx , New York City , USA ) is an American pianist .

Life

Goode studied piano at the Mannes College of Music in New York with Claude Frank, among others . Today he teaches piano at this branch of the New School . He continued his education with Rudolf Serkin and Mieczysław Horszowski at the Curtis Institute of Music .

Today Goode performs with major international orchestras, but has also enjoyed great success as a soloist, for example in 1990 with a solo recital at New York's Carnegie Hall . He has made many recordings of chamber music with the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra . His chamber music partners include Dawn Upshaw , Richard Stoltzman and Alexander Schneider .

With Mitsuko Uchida , Goode is Artistic Director of the Marlboro Music School and Festival in Marlboro, Vermont . For several modern composers he was the pianist at world premieres of their works, for example for Carlos Chávez , George Perle and Robert Helps .

Goode is married to the violinist Marcia Weinfeld .
