Alexander Schneider (musician)
Alexander (Sascha) Schneider (born October 21, 1908 in Vilnius , Russian Empire , † February 2, 1993 in New York ) was a Lithuanian violinist of Jewish origin.
Schneider was concertmaster in Frankfurt am Main , emigrated to the USA as a Jew in 1933, became a member of the Budapest String Quartet and director of the Casals Festival in Prades.
He was also the founder of the Free Concerts in New York's Washington Square Park .
