Kenneth Olsen (cellist)

Kenneth Olsen (* in New York City ) is an American cellist.

Olsen studied with Richard Aaron at the Cleveland Institute of Music , with Joel Krosnick at the Juilliard School and with Luis Garcia-Renart at Bard College . He also attended the Steans Institute for Young Artists and the Tanglewood Institute at Boston University . He was the winner of the Cleveland Institute Concert Competition and the Nakamichi Cello Competition at the Aspen Music Festival, and was awarded Second Prize in the 2002 Holland-America Music Society Competition . He is a founding member of the East Coast Chamber Orchestra , an orchestra of young musicians that performs without a conductor, and the Chicago-based Civitas Ensemble , cellist with the Lincoln String Quartet and, since 2005, deputy principal cellist with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra .
