Mark Daniel Baekbeom Yee (born December 13, 1987 ) is an American cellist of Korean origin.

Live and act

Yee was a cello student of Desmond Hoebig , Richard Weiss , Christopher French and Richard Aaron . He received his bachelor's degree from the Manhattan School of Music with Clive Greensmith , a former member of the Tokyo Quartet , and attended courses from Steven Isserlis and Ralph Kirshbaum at the International Musicians Seminar Prussia Cove in England in 2009 . He won the Cleveland Institute of Music's concert competition with Antonín Dvořák's cello concerto , played Tchaikovsky's Rococo Variations with the National Repertory Orchestra and was a participant in the 2014 Shooting Stars concert at the Sarasota Music Festival . He received his master's degree and concert diploma in 2015 from the Eastman School of Music , where he also taught as assistant to Stevan Doane and Rosemary Elliott .

He was a member of the Yee Matathias Cheli piano trio mentored by Sylvia Rosenberg of the Juilliard School (with Dominic Cheli and Asi Matathias ) and participated in Jeremy Denk's and Menahem Pressler's masterclasses at Lincoln Center . Other chamber music partners included Robert D. Levin , Mikhail Kopelman , Oleh Krysa , James Buswell , Pamela Frank , Kim Kashkashian and Emma Tahmizian . As an orchestral musician, he has performed under conductors such as Kurt Masur , Gustavo Dudamel , David Zinman , Peter Oundjian and Leonard Slatkin . With the China Conservatory Chamber Ensemble , he premiered works by Victoria Bond , Gao Pings , Wang Da Hong and Xie Wen Huis at Lincoln Center .
