Career

The midfielder Vesa Mars began his professional career with third division club Jakobstads BK , with whom he was promoted to the second Finnish division . About the second division Kokkolan PS and FF Jaro changed Mars in the summer of 1980 to the German second division SC Herford . Mars made his debut for Herford on October 25, 1980 in a 2-0 win over 1. SC Göttingen 05 . He made a total of 22 second division games for Herford and scored two goals. However, he could not prevent his club from relegating to the Oberliga Westfalen . At the end of the season, Vesa Mars returned to Jaro. For the 1982 season he moved to the first division Kokkolan PV , where he got eleven hits in 29 games. Mars then went to Turku PS , with whom he was Finnish runner-up in 1984 and 1986 respectively. In the seasons 1987 and 1988 he let his career end with the second division Grankulla IFK . Vesa Mars scored 24 goals in 100 first division games.

In 1982 and 1983 Vesa Mars completed four games for the Finnish national team , in which he was, however, without a goal. He made his debut on July 11, 1982 in a 3-2 win over Iceland . Today Vesa Mars works as a football commentator for various Finnish TV channels.
