Jakobstad [ ˈjɑːkɔpstɑːd ], in Finnish Pietarsaari [ ˈpiɛtɑrsɑːri ], is a city on the Gulf of Bothnia in western Finland .
The town was founded in 1652 by Ebba Brahe and named Jakobstad after her late husband, Jakob de la Gardie .

The city has a Swedish-speaking population of 56.4%, a Finnish-speaking proportion of 40.4%, and 3.4% foreign speakers. It is therefore officially bilingual with Swedish as the first official language. In international contexts, the city itself mostly uses the Swedish name Jakobstad.

- Arctic Open Air Museum Nanoq
- Schonwald, an area directly at the old port (Gamla hamn / Vanha satama), where trees have not been felled since the 18th century. Some of the pines are over 300 years old. The Gamla hamnvägen surrounds the area and there is a hiking / running path lined with sawdust.
