Kronoby (Swedish), Finnish Kruunupyy , is a municipality in the western Finnish region of Ostrobothnia . It is located around 100 km northwest of the city of Vaasa on the archipelago of the Gulf of Bothnia . 85% of the 6509 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2018) are Finland-Swedes , 13% speak Finnish as their mother tongue. The community is officially bilingual.

Kronoby is halfway between the towns of Jakobstad in the south and Kokkola in the north, around 20 km away . The Kokkola-Pietarsaari Airport is the air transport hub of the region. The airlines Finnair and Finncomm Airlines maintain scheduled flights to several Finnish cities; charter flights to southern European holiday regions also start here.

The current municipality of Kronoby was created in 1969 through the merger of the previously independent municipalities of Kronoby, Nedervetil and Terjärv. Today the parish has three parish churches, which were built in 1822 and 1817 and 1774 respectively.
