Fredrik Svanbäck (born December 5, 1979 in Jakobstad , Österbotten ) is a former Finnish football player . The midfielder , who made his debut for the Finnish national team in 2004 , won the Swedish National Cup in 2006 with Helsingborgs IF .

Career

Svanbäck comes from the youth of the Finnish club FF Jaro from his hometown Jakobstad. For the club from the west of Finland, he ran on from 1997 on in the men's team. In 1998 he rose with the team from the Veikkausliiga in the Ykkönen . In the second division he remained loyal to the club and managed to return to the top class with him in 2002. Due to his constant performance in the first division, he recommended himself for the national team. Under national coach Antti Muurinen he made his debut in the 2-1 win over the Bahrain national team on December 1, 2004 in the national jersey .

In 2005 Svanbäck moved to the Swedish Allsvenskan to Helsingborgs IF . At his new club he was given the number "8" and was able to play in the regular formation, so that he played 24 of the 26 season games. In the following two years, coach Stuart Baxter relied on him in midfield. With the team he reached the cup final in 2006, which was won after goals from Luton Shelton and Babis Stefanidis by a 2-0 win against Gefle IF . He also took part in the Supercup game against champions IF Elfsborg the following spring , but suffered a 1-0 defeat by a goal from James Keene .

In March 2008, Svanbäck returned to the circle of the national team when Baxter, who had meanwhile been appointed Finnish national coach, appointed him to the national team. In the 1: 2 defeat against the Bulgarian national team , he played the second international match of his career. After Helsingborgs IF had signed Bo Nilsson as Baxter's successor for the 2008 season , he was not used at the start of the season. The club then loaned him to his old club FF Jaro in Finland between late April and early June. There he was used in six games. After his return to Sweden, he ran after the summer break following the European Championship in 2008 for the southern Swedish club in the Allsvenskan. However, it was rarely used in Helsingborg.

In early 2010 Svanbäck moved to Landskrona BoIS in the Superettan . He became a regular again and stayed for four years. At the beginning of 2014 he returned to FF Jaro. A year later he switched to the Swedish amateur sector, where he ended his career at the end of 2017.
