Birkerød Kommune [ ˈbiʀgəʀøːʔð ] was until December 2006 a Danish municipality in what was then Frederiksborg Amt in the northeast of the main island of Zealand . Since January 2007 it has been part of the newly formed Rudersdal municipality ( Hovedstaden region ) together with the former Søllerød municipality . Birkerød Kommune was in the northern suburbs of Copenhagen .
