Fredrik Jan Elis Norrena (born November 29, 1973 in Jakobstad ) is a Finnish ice hockey goalkeeper who last played for TPS Turku in the Finnish SM-liiga .
Career
Fredrik Norrena started his professional career in the Finnish SM-liiga at TPS Turku (1992 to 1997). He moved to Sweden to AIK Stockholm for the 1997/98 season , then played again in Finland for Lukko Rauma . From there he moved to his old club TPS Turku (1998 to 2002). In 2002/03 he played for the Swedish club Västra Frölunda in Gothenburg . Since 2003/2004 he played for Linköpings HC in Sweden .
In 213th place in the seventh round in the NHL Entry Draft 2002 he was drawn by the Tampa Bay Lightning and received in May 2006 a one-year entry-level contract with Lightning. But shortly afterwards Tampa Bay exchanged Norrena together with Fredrik Modin for Marc Denis from the Columbus Blue Jackets in a transfer business .
In Columbus, he started the 2006/07 season as a back-up goalkeeper behind Pascal Leclaire , but after Leclaire was injured in December 2006 and had to miss out on a long-term basis, Norrena took over the post of goalkeeper for much of the season and had to go into the 2007/08 season but again let Leclaire go first. The 2008/09 season started Norrena in the Blue Jackets squad, but Leclaire and rookie Steve Mason prevailed as a goalkeeper team. Norrena was then sent to the AHL in December 2008 to join the Columbus farm team , the Syracuse Crunch . Shortly afterwards he signed a contract in Russia with Ak Bars Kazan from the KHL .
Between 2009 and 2013 he was active in the Swedish Elitserien at Linköpings HC and Växjö Lakers Hockey before he was signed by his hometown club TPS Turku in June 2013.

Norrena took part in the ice hockey world championships in 2002 , 2004 , 2005 , 2006 and 2007 , as well as in the 2006 Winter Olympics.
