Galilee Church Paunsdorf

The Genezarethkirche is an Evangelical Lutheran church in Leipzig-Paunsdorf . Together with the parishes of Baalsdorf-Mölkau and Sellerhausen-Volkmarsdorf, the Paunsdorf Church is part of the " parish in the east of Leipzig".

The building emerged from an extension of the former nave of the village church in 1783 by the Leipzig architect Johann Carl Friedrich Dauthe . The church hall of the previous building, which was still intact at the time of the redesign, was built from field stones around 1689. The current tower with a pointed helmet dates from 1875.

The church hall now houses an organ by Alfred Schmeisser as well as inscription tombstones of the Paunsdorf landlady Dorothea von Thümmel (1576) and of the officer Victor Siegmund von Oertzen, who died in the Battle of Leipzig in 1813 .
