Genocide Film Library

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Genocide Film Library was set up in 2011 by the Cinema for Peace Foundation after the establishment of an office in Bosnia and Herzegovina . Following the example of the University of Southern California Shoah Foundation Institute, founded by Steven Spielberg, the Genocide Film Library provides audiovisual testimony from survivors of the Srebrenica massacre to scientific institutions.

The Genocide Film Library thus makes an important contribution to the documentation of the orally available historical material about the Bosnian War and in particular the Srebrenica massacre in July 1995.

With the support of Hasan Nuhanović and the Federal Ministry for Foreign Relations, Genocide Film Library collected more than 1,100 interviews with survivors and eyewitnesses of the Srebrenica massacre in summer 1995 over a period of three years. The interviews represent the most extensive oral history in Bosnia and Herzegovina and form the basis for the documentary "Voices of Srebrenica" produced by the Cinema for Peace Foundation.
